About Velicity

I was born in the small town of Rapid City, South Dakota on October 6, 1977.
That's right. That means I'm a libra. FABULOUS!!! I grew up in a family
of 5 - my 2 parents, 2 sisters, and me in the middle. Rapid City was my
home all the way until high school graduation at Rapid City Central High
School in 1996. Growing up I was always involved in many extraciricular
activities including music and theater and always living life to the fullest.

I was part of the Rapid City Children's Chorus until my freshman year and also
school choir which included many performances and a few theatrical like concerts.
From then on I was hooked - mesmerized by the glitz and the glam, glitter and
sequins, and rhinestones and whatever sparkles and still am.

Somehow I always knew I was different and was meant for big and amazing things.
I continued on into high school music - band and choir - and dabbled a bit in
the school theater department with OKLAHOMA being my very first official musical.
Let the creative juices flow!!!!!!!!!
After high school I considered continuing my education and went to college in
Bartlesville, Oklahoma. After 1 1/2 years I quickly took that consideration
back and decided it was not for me. I continued living in Tulsa, OK for
another year and that's where I caught the drag bug. Before moving back to
South Dakota after my dad had passed away, I really wanted to try performing
in drag alongside my friends.

So I did and I was hooked. Like I said before...
the glitz and the glam!!!!!! So after moving back to Rapid City in 2000 and
completing cosmetology school at Black Hills Beauty College in 2003, I
decided to move to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. My new career was off to a
good start and I was also able to perform more.

Mostly in the shows at Touchez and a couple of times in Sioux City, Iowa.
In October 2004 I went on a road trip to Fargo, North Dakota with a couple of
other performers from Sioux Falls to do the JustNTyme's Fierce show at
Playmaker's House Of Rock. It was fabulous. The stage and the lighting and
sound system were amazing. The crowd was super nice and so supportive.

In January 2006 I decided to make a new change in my life once again.
After doing hair for 3 years in Sioux Falls it didn't really take me anywhere
so I thought I needed an adjustment. So at the request of a friend I moved to
Kenosha, WI - an hour north of Chicago - and lived there and did hair until
August. I then moved into Chicago and continued to do hair and still am.

While in Kenosha I did some performing and have kept up my persona of Velicity
here in the Windy City. In April of 2006 JustNtyme conatacted me and told me
that people were asking when I was going to return to Fargo. So of course,
since I have always been a people pleaser I obliged and started performing
more and more in JustNtyme's Fierce.

This show is so amazing and has been
about the best exposure I have ever had. From being included in one of
the local news station cover stories, to an article in the Fargo Forum
Entertainment section in November of 2006, and also in the July 2007
Fargo /Moorehead publication of RX Magazine. The love and support I have
received from everone has been totally heartwarming. I will never forget
the show we did on September 20, 2006. It was the grand opening of The
Venue and we had an audience of approximately 1800 people. To hear the
applause of that many was absolutely overwhelming - almost terrifying.

I just hope that this whirlwind continues and never goes away.
I hope that I will always get to continue showing people that beauty
doesn't stop at a certain size and that when you follow your dreams
and your heart, major things will happen. I always try to live by
the golden rule of "do unto others as you would have them do unto
you" and also Dare to dream and let go of what makes you stop!!!!!

Love Always,

Velicity Metropolis
